Without Proper Entanglement
The Overlook presents a call for submission for WITHOUT PROPER ENTANGLEMENT, curated by Maya Simkin and Riley Cavanaugh. Two artists are sought out to participate in an experiment with fragmented communication, culminating in a site-specific, two-person show examining collisions and rifts in understanding at The Overlook. The two artists will be chosen by the curators, without knowledge of who their collaborator for the show will be. Parameters for their communication will be monitored and allowed in certain increments (three months before the show they may communicate via letter, two months out they may have a phone call, etc.). The results of planning the exhibition with stunted engagement will display the collaborators ability to cope without proper entanglement. This experiment stems from the curators’ own experience spending most of the year in a long-distance relationship and constantly impacted by limitations of time and space in their communications.
All mediums are accepted. Multimedia work, installation, and performance, are encouraged.
There are no fees to apply or to participate in the show. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS JULY 30, 2017.
